Poems About Pollution

Pollution events like oil spills or the accidental release of raw sewage can harm the environment. These events can kill fish and other water life, and can threaten human health. Pollution of the sea takes many forms. Toxic chemicals, sewage, crude oil, radioactive waste, agricultural fertilisers, animal waste, storm run-off from our city streets, and millions of tonnes of litter all threaten our seas and shoreline.

Pollution sources like factories and power plants may be closer to their homes, the Lung Association points out. Many live near areas with heavy highway traffic or have poor access to health care, which makes them even more vulnerable. Pollution is one of the signs that humans have exceeded those limits. Pollution in our rivers, lakes, coastal waters and ground water is usually described as coming from point sources or diffuse sources. Examples of point sources are discharges from sewage works and factories.

Pollution kills water plants and animals. Fertilizers and pesticides are harmful because they cause algae to grow. Pollution can come from various sources, such as sewage, agriculture and industry. Pollutants may enter surface water directly, or may move slowly through the underground water and only enter surface water much later. Pollution control is a term used in environmental management. It means the control of emissions and effluents into air, water or soil.

Pollution is the contribution of the living system. Man invented a lot of materials, substance, chemicals, etc. Everyone of which produces a waste besides it. Pollution is not only unhealthy but expensive. It destroys crops, depreciates property, discourages economic development, raises municipal bills (and often taxes), and creates countless hazards whose cost is impossible to compute. Pollution is caused by various industrial and agricultural processes, population growth and movement, and transportation. For thousands of years, people lived off the land without permanently harming it.

Pollution can also be the consequence of a natural disaster. For example, hurricanes often involve water contamination from sewage, and petrochemical spills from ruptured boats or automobiles. Pollution can take two major forms: local pollution and global pollution. In the past, only local pollution was thought to be a problem. Pollution Engineering's online Buyers Guide makes it easy for you to locate those vendors most appropriate for your immediate needs. Search by product type, company name, or geographic location.

Cars driving 15,000km a year emit approximately 101 grammes of sulphur oxide gases (or SOx) in that time. The world's largest ships' diesel engines which typically operate for about 280 days a year generate roughly 5,200 tonnes of SOx. Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odourless, poisonous gas that comes mainly from traffic exhaust. It stops the blood carrying oxygen to the brain, heart and other tissues.

Eventually the contaminated lakes and forests may become lifeless. Regions that are downwind of heavily industrialized areas, such as Europe and the eastern United States and Canada, are the hardest hit by acid rain. Eventually the algae itself dies, leaving a stinking, decaying mass. This problem of excess fertilisers in water is called EUTROPHICATION.

Environmentalists believed that Particulate Matter (PM) is the key to monitor air pollution in every city and in Lahore this level has reach dangerous level. PM 2.5 is a complex mixture of extremely small particles and liquid droplets. The Environmental Protection Agency want to cut nitrogen oxide emissions by 40 percent. No cuts in particulate matter are planned.

Diesel vehicles also emit lower levels of CO and HC than equivalent petrol vehicles. However diesel engines emit greater levels of NOx and Particles than new petrol vehicles. Diesels emit less CO2 than gasoline vehicles and can also run on biodiesel. In Europe, diesel vehicles are now the car of choice and are gaining more of a foot hold in the U.S.

Carbon dioxide emissions are also expected to increase over the coming years, causing a negative set-back for Kyoto countries. Scientists predict that carbon dioxide emissions in China will eventually outgrow even those of the United States. Carbon monoxide - is a colourless, odourless, non-irritating but very poisonous gas. It is a product by incomplete combustion of fuel such as natural gas, coal or wood. Carbon dioxide and other gases, known as greenhouse gases, reduce the escape of heat from the planet without blocking radiation coming from the Sun. Because of this greenhouse effect, average global temperatures are expected to rise 1.4 to 5.8 Celsius degrees (2.5 to 10.4 Fahrenheit degrees) by the year 2100.
