Just because something is 'natural' doesnt mean it is healthy for e.g. lentils contain trypsin inhibitors and phytate. GMO's are just as likely to cause cancer as any thing we normally eat in fact they will help to? reduce cancer as seen in purple tomatoes (increase in flavonoid concentration- Flavonoids are antioxidant molecules in red wine, blueberry's etc). You should redirect your argument to pesticide/herbicide use.

@282894jd UN report International Assessment of Agricultural? Science Technology Development by 400 scientists, concluded GM crops have very little potential to alleviate hunger or poverty and can potentially INCREASE hunger and poverty in poor countries, where most hunger and poverty occur. UN reports conclude that organic can REDUCE hunger and poverty in poor countries. Conventional breeding and organic farming are better alternatives to GM crops with less risk.

@onoaolomo Here are GMO testing problems "most of these studies have been conducted by biotechnology companies responsible for commercializing these GM plants." sciencedirect"dot"com/science/article/pii/S0160412011000055 "regulatory tests on GMOs are three-month long feeding trials of laboratory rats, which are biochemically assessed. The tests are not compulsory, and are? not independently conducted." ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20941377/

@onoaolomo EPA regulations from EPA website "EPA considers many factors regarding the PIP, including""Studies assessing the risks to human health, Studies? assessing risks to nontarget organisms and the environment, The potential for gene flow, The need for insect resistance management plans" EPA regulations are generally to evaluate studies from the GMO manufacturers.

@onoaolomo USDA wants to do even less regulating of GMOs. Federal Register Vol. 76 No. 67 "The pilot project will explore two voluntary mechanisms: (1) A? petitioner-submitted environmental report based upon which APHIS would develop an EA or EIS and (2) an EA or EIS prepared by a contractor funded by a cooperative service agreement between the petitioner and APHIS." Biotech companies test their own GMOs and basically fill out their own EIS.

@onoaolomo USDA regulations from Federal Register Vol. 76 No. 67 "The regulations in 340.6(c)(1) through (c)(5) require the petitioner to submit specific information to meet regulatory requirements and inform APHIS. While petitioners may submit much of? the necessary information, APHIS retains primary responsibility for researching and analyzing all the data necessary to prepare the environmental documents." USDA reviews data given to them by biotech companies and fills out an EIS.

@onoaolomo FDA regulations from FDA website "Because FDA determined? that bioengineered foods should be regulated like their conventional counterparts, FDA has not to date established any regulations specific to bioengineered food.""FDA established an informal process by which firms can inform the Agency that they have completed a food or feed safety assessment. FDA requests that firms submit a summary of their assessment to the Agency." GMO manufacturers test the GMOs.

@onoaolomo This is a magicians trick, listen to the wording. Greenpeace said FDA, USDA and EPA do not "TEST" GMOs as part of their regulations. This woman says GMOs are tested(but she never says FDA, USDA and EPA. test them), then she says FDA, USDA and EPA "REGULATE" GMOs. GMO manufacturers test the GMOs and FDA, USDA and EPA regulations are to review the? studies done by the GMO manufacturers and not test the GMO. I`ll post the regulations, Greenpeace was correct.

@onoaoiomo this video only says a list of government institutes manipulated by these transgenic industries like Monsanto - the very truth is about the pollination polution on neighbour farms, the monopoly of the seeds industry, and the unknown danger these transgenics are on? our organism - everyone, please click on that 'dislike' button, below on the video

Let's not throw the baby out with the? bathwater!!! Monsanto is obviously an evil company but GM crops could help defeat hunger and combat disease. So lets all stay calm, stop the fear mongering and look at it from a logical cost/benefit angle.

If GMO foods are percfectly safe then it would be? labeled as GMO food but the FDA and the GMO pushers say "That will confuse customers".

I couldn't agree with you? more.

"here's no need to genetically modify perfectly good natural food" First off, You eat them daily without knowing. And second they do follow the same principles of nature. Most other species of plants have evolved to adapt towards different and changed climates. All they were doing was making slight modifications to speed up this process to help feed the worlds masses and help prevent Famine. So what do you want? For those 2 billion saved by it to? die off? That's sick and Anti-human.

Though of course these disasters are PREVENTED by these government agencies. The FAA regulates the skys with strict procedures that must be carried out. The result is passengers safely getting to their destinations on time? while also making air travel one of the Safest forms of travel out there. You cannot understand or at least see the clear importance of the agencies unless you've seen what a day would be like WITHOUT them.
By: EpiDemic117. on 03 Jun 10, 08:29:34
"No wait scratch that, I don't trust the USDA,EPA or FDA at all. fuck'em" Not the FAA either? Because without the FAA and all these other government agencies to get on some lazy companies asses. You'd be hearing nothing on the news but complete and utter disaster reports about food which might contain certain bacterial or viral outbreaks. Air Planes constantly crashing killing many,? and high levels and concentration of mercury in our water supply. These are Minute examples.

@puzzey83 "be ur? own damn scientists, whatever they know, they learned it from a damn book, u can too!" So i fucking tell you out. STAND BEHIND YOU GOD DAMN STATEMENT and DO as you said. except for the scientist part since you are merely nothing more than a commenter without any actual degree, and does not maintain any skill within this actual field.
By: EpiDemic117. on 03 Jun 10, 08:22:42
@puzzey83 "use your own minds people" Hmmm this makes me THINK what greenpeace should of been doing this whole time instead of MINDLESSLY protesting at just about ANYTHING till these lazy hippy brats get their way. this is the problem with the upper middle classes here. They are completely SPOILED that they feel as if noooo these luxurys i have aren't good enough. Noooooo I have to go out? and protest at EVERYTHING! so i can help save the planet! Yah typical bullshit fed greenpeace propaganda.
By: EpiDemic117. on 03 Jun 10, 08:19:01
I HATE greenpeace with a passion. Those idiots are protesting Clean Nuclear energy, Runway expansion at Heathrow, as well? as some other refinerys that produce fuel for cars .etc While they use their Diesel Chugging boat to go out there and protest against licensed whalers. I somewhat disagree with whaling but THAT NOT THE POINT! Greenpeace HATES progress, They'd rather turn the clock back on technology.
By: new01. on 08 May 10, 17:07:12
Are you fucking stupid!? really now? Crops? that can withstand harsh weather, pesticides and be altered to grow larger etc. are a good thing. That means MORE food, the more food we have the larger the supply, the cheaper the food, the more people can afford to maintain a balanced diet. Just because you don't understand genetics you're afraid of it, your fear is about as fucking rational as the boogey man.
By: TwoOldOaks. on 06 Apr 10, 18:16:36
Greenpeace has done some great things, and had great campaigns, but this GE crop crap is total BULLSHIT. They? save MILLIONS and MILLIONS of lives. They grow in harsher places, they grow more per acre and they resist diseases more.

That's a lot? of uncritical conspiracy theories in one single post. Wonderful grammar, too. Did you practice for a long time?
