Doesn't this guy have perfect timing? He is proposing this in an insecure economy. We need greater restrictions for slower economic recovery.

DISCOVERED in the 21stC: The Underlying Law of Nature The underlying law of nature may be the world's most useful, profitable and encouraging knowledge. The top 3 General Characteristics of The underlying law of nature are: #1. The Way of All Things #2. The Basis of All Laws and Principles #3. The Basis of All Health, Growth, Efficacy and Efficiency Google it?as a start. The empirical process for identifying the underlying law of nature was discovered in 2008. Someday we may all do so.

@gabrielguitarman you seem to be dismissing the objective. We need to cut down on green house gases to avoid a catastrophe and secure a safe future. If we have to payer higher taxes in the process of creating technologies allowing clean, renewable energy then so be it. That we're in a downturn really isn't an arguement for dismissing emergency. And you won't find a country with the ability to flourish that does not provide government run education - discrediting your anti socialist arguement.

my response to this nonsense is if things are as bad as you all lead on. How bout coming up with a better solution then cap and trade. you know one that actually fixes the problem and isnt profitable for a few like oh i dont know al gore for example

@bbbbmer Great American what? Joke?? The I agree.
By: Mastikator. on 29 Jul 10, 21:42:17
@BeachCory Sounds like a good plan to me.
By: BeachCory. on 29 Jul 10, 21:33:42
@Mastikator ain't that the truth We should not stop here, we should look long and hard and every member of the government that was voted into office. That would thin out maybe 85%. Then we can start over.

I hope the rest of world can pick up our slack. The US just dropped the whole freaking bill.

@independentview1 Don't pretend Democratic politicians who legislate only to get lobbyist money are "liberal".
By: independentview1. on 29 Jul 10, 19:36:47
"That's the simple heart of the matter when we talk about climate policy. Nobody should be able to pollute for free." Van Jones. This is Liberal logic at its best. Companies can pollute as much as they want as long as they send money to Democrats in Washington so they can use it to purchase votes. Liberals don't want to end pollution, they just want their cut. Corporate greed is put to shame by Liberals. It always comes down to one thing with Liberals, cold, hard, cash.

@Z1BABOUINOS It was republican legislation, Gore wants to cut carbon, not let corps pay to rape your kids., Republicans and conservatives are scum of the planet.
By: Bob48Bob. on 29 Jul 10, 12:07:20
@SandCmpbll You are right. The EPA is stacked with lobbyists, but this whole carbon trading system does not work! This whole carbon system was setup by remember who? Enron! What the world needs is a strong "EPA" type organization that applies to every country, not just the USA.
By: Mastikator. on 29 Jul 10, 12:00:48
@BeachCory If that's it then he's on par with other politicians.
By: Visfen. on 29 Jul 10, 11:49:22
They shouldn't get to pollute for fre,, but the cost should be related to the damage, which is far lower than the current carbon tax. Its like cars, we have thousands of people die in car accidents every year, but we save more lives and we getter better lives as a trade offs. That's what life is about, trade-offs. Not ignorant utopian visions like this commi has.
By: freesk8. on 29 Jul 10, 10:35:35
The taxes and environmental regulations this man advocates will hurt black people more than white people. Increasing taxes will slow economic growth and increase unemployment among less skilled workers and the poor. He should be regarded by African Americans as a traitor to his own race.
By: freesk8. on 29 Jul 10, 10:30:28
Of course those who pollute should pay. But why should the government collect the proceeds? Politicians and bureaucrats will waste the money on things totally unrelated to cleaning up the pollution. Instead, those harmed by the pollution should get the money. And Cap and Trade is nothing like a fine for littering. It actually LEGALIZES pollution and makes it so the govt benefits. It's like the tobacco settlement. Govt will have an incentive to allow MORE pollution so it gets more money!

A VERY dangerous man, using the environment to push his agenda of a big, all powerful Government. I pay extra for solar power myself, but I would NEVER support a man like this. Make no mistake, Van Jones doesn't give a damn about the environment - it's a tool he's using for a massive power grab.
By: SandCmpbll. on 29 Jul 10, 07:20:19
@Z1BABOUINOS Thank you. A little common sense goes a long way.
