"What was BP doing drilling so deep and so far from shore? Because of government regulations, which prevent? oil companies from drilling on land, where it's safer. " Not to shatter your argument, but regulation could also prohibit them from drilling offshore, especially since it's so ill-advised. If only they weren't bought and paid for by the oil companies.

Haha Cenk blabbers? like he has a fat turkey in his mouth. Nice libertarian bashing, but he forgets ask the most fundamental question: What was BP doing drilling so deep and so far from shore? Because of government regulations, which prevent oil companies from drilling on land, where it's safer. There's billions of barrels worth oil in land reserves in America. Offshore oil drilling is risky, more regulations will not prevent accidents.

Ben, I lllllloooove your sense of humor here. Be more like this, show us your funny side!! Obviously, it's there, it's dry? and it rocks.

Ben is a great supporting host.. especially? in this episode. Hilarious.

I'm a libertarian. and I think that BP should definitely be? held accountable, but also I don't think that government should be sticking their nose into the affairs of private business. BP should be held accountable by their customers I think.

This immigration issue is all over the world now. The solution is not to keep deporting people , or give them citizenship. The solution is to cut down the? problem on the root and try to make people want to stay on their home countries. Nations should act as one , when it comes to humanitarian issues, however there are so many ideological debates that nothing gets done and the governments can't even solve the issues inside their own countires let alone help others.

all three? and to top all of that a veteran power ranger

Is the turk? a muslim, communist or socialist?

@ThirdRAILKink, another point is under the law it is illegal to discriminate in the workplace because it protects human rights. How can it be open for discussion to take those freedoms away from people. It seemed you used the term 'freedom' as if you are talking about freedom? from tyranny, when what you are suggesting is freedom to remove human rights.
By: jtking2504. on 02 Jun 10, 08:18:31
@ThirdRAILKink, the problem is that discrimination in the workplace should not be left to personal discretion, you can't apply one rule to some and not others when you are trying to protect human rights, what message does that send? If you choose not? to associate with someone b/c you don't like their color or sexuality, then you have every right to be a jerk if you want, sure. But when it comes down to people's livelihoods, all business owners have basic responsibilities to their employees.
By: ThirdRAILKink. on 31 May 10, 22:53:46
Maybe it depends on the size of the business, how many people own the business, etc. Some lower tier employer who is a part of a larger organization cannot discriminate. The local manager of Wal-Mart or the local owner of a McDonalds can't discriminate, but maybe Mom and Pop, hiring for Mom and? Pop, can. I just think the issue deserves more than just shrugging it off.
By: jtking2504. on 31 May 10, 13:50:28
@ThirdRAILKink, I understand what you're saying, it's a free country and all that, I agree with you there. However, I was referring to discrimination in the workplace, I'm sure you would agree that everyone should have the right to apply for a job they are qualified for, how would a person's sexuality have anything to do with how they perform their job? How do you balance 'freedom',? eg., the freedom to apply for a job if you've worked hard to become qualified?

Ben is really great. He gets a bad rap in the YouTube comments and I can't imagine why. He used? to be the co-host with Cenk for a long-time, it's too bad he's not on as often anymore.
By: ThirdRAILKink. on 30 May 10, 16:36:45
And when you quote me, quote me in context. I said parents have the right to raise their children "however the hell they want". I never said? people can discriminate "however the hell they want". Obviously, people can't discriminate violently or through government.
By: ThirdRAILKink. on 30 May 10, 16:33:34
We have have no freedom from discrimination except freedom from government discrimination. I'm bisexual: if some one calls me a fag or a cocksucker or won't hang out with me because of it, I can't have him arrested for that. If the government calls me a fag, then we've got a serious problem. A private business owner can discriminate, just like a homeowner? can choose who he invites into his home.
By: jtking2504. on 29 May 10, 12:46:14
@ThirdRAILKink, no, people don't have the right to discriminate "however the hell they want"!! Private business owners do not have the right to infringe on other people's rights to live free of discrimination, that's not freedom at all, only for a select few.? Freedom applies to everyone.

This incompetance and deception by BP is really only the tip of the iceberg. Why am I not surprised? to hear that Haliburton is involved in this mess. The majority of the worlds biggest corps and Gov't s are incompetant and corrupt. as we go into the future we will see more of "The Biggest _____ of all Time" with every disaster enviromental or financial. Things are only going to get worse until we get rid of these fat cat greedy pigs. What can WE do?

I get where Rand Paul is coming from, the guy? has good intentions and is someone we can use in office. People are just bending his theories/words around. For example If I said " I'm for abortion", new anchors come with the conclusion "so you hate babies and think they deserve to die"

e.p.a. environmental protection agency, it should be their job to? sanction any way they want, it's their job.

William Burroughs nailed this years ago when he talked about the drug war. If something doesn't work, that is the? best reason to continue it. If something works, stay well away. That might make waves, and the boys up top don't like waves.
