How much will this cost?
By: yahaya alhassan. on 21 May 12, 18:44:16
I like this project. I? want to construct my own by having 24v dc motor to run my ac motor

i may be? wrong and i use metric units not imperial but... P=1 x 9800kg/m^3 x 64m x 9,81m/s^2 x 0,157m^2/s= 965994W=965kW 20kW seems kinda low for 73% efficiency, although formula i used is for water turbines in general not pump-turbine
By: Honders. on 26 Apr 12, 01:54:43
My total system efficiency is 73% using a pump as turbine and a 3 phase motor as generator. If I were to use a pelton or turgo I might get up to 80% but: the equipment cost would be much higher and I would lose the benefit of 10' of suction head going down the discharge pit. The trick is to match the pump/turbine to the head and 'design' flow. See: EnergyIndependence-Rob.Blogspot.com for much more? info.

very nice and carefully designed sistem, but i would say it would be very good to invest in pelton wheel, because with that kind of head and flow characteristics you could get a loooot more? than 20kW

you arent worried about using pvc piping in relation to water hammer. i have seen that shatter pvc. i guess it? wouldnt be a problem as long as no air can enter the system at the intake or you run out of water. very impressive system though

Very impressive!?

Nice Video That You Share , So Very Nice Thanks You here is 210 feet of head (92 PSI) and 550 ft of 8 inch welded steel penstock. We can draw? 2500 gal /minute and still maintain about 85 PSI

I Really Like The Video From Your This Micro Hydro installation uses Pumps as Turbines and 3 phase Motors as single? phase Generators.

good ? enginer what think you can do bery big this sistem i have plains for 1'5mw or more

Thanx? for your answers!

, The grid is like a freight train, my little generator is like a person pushing on the back. The train (grid) speed (voltage/frequency) will be the same no matter if I push or not, or whether? it is loaded down with 100 cars or 110 cars.
By: HungryGreeny. on 09 Dec 11, 15:17:32
Hm, then i have another question - why grid connected generators automatically stabilized? Grid also don't have constant? load isn't it?
By: Honders. on 09 Dec 11, 12:23:31
Yes, the load controllers act more rapidly to keep the voltage in check. The frequency feedback loop is slower acting but keeps the? long term stability of the frequency in check. Grid connected generators are automatically stabilized by the grid and don't need these controls.
By: HungryGreeny. on 09 Dec 11, 10:59:05
So, why there is dump load controller? I thought destination of dump load is to provide constant load on the? generator, and? thereby maintain constant rpm, and constant frequency. Where is my misunderstanding?
By: Honders. on 09 Dec 11, 02:28:25
, It? has a frequency feedback loop. If frequency drifts up the valve closes some, if frequency goes down the water valve is opened very slowly.
By: HungryGreeny. on 08 Dec 11, 23:41:19
How it's maintain constant? frequency?

How many volts? were you pumping out ?
By: douro20. on 07 Nov 11, 19:46:26
How? much power are you generating?
By: truckinjeff. on 02 Oct 11, 19:33:58
How do you monitor and control the voltage and? phasing of the generators?
