The Efficiency And Elegance That Is Ceiling Fans.

By Erika Sundelin

Ceiling fans. You look at them and say to yourself they are just a big fan you put on the ceiling. But if you look closer they are a lot more. I decided to start installing these fans in my home. I noticed that with all the designs they come in that each room started to take on a life of their own. Elegance if you would. Also, and this will knock your socks off, I have seen a decrease in my power bill. Just imagine beauty and efficiency in a fan you hook to your ceiling

Basically a ceiling fan is just angled blades that are attached to a electric motor. They can run clockwise or counter clockwise depending if you want to blow air down or pull air up. When the fan does this it mixes the cold and hot air creating a even climate. This in it self will cause your heating and cooling unit to work less. This in turn will be a big energy saver within your home.

In the cold season your fan will take your hot air from the top and push it down to the bottom. This will mix it with the cold air at the bottom. This in turn will keep the room at one temperature. Keeping the room temperature level will help save energy. If your heater does not have to work as hard to heat a room it will not use as much power. This will be a big help on you energy bill.

When the hot season rolls around you will find you ceiling fan still saving you that money. By taking the hot air from the ceiling and pushing to the floor will let the air mix together. This will create a cool even temperature. Your cooling unit will not have to work hard to keep the room cool which will use less energy. The more you can keep your rooms at one certain temperature the less energy your cooling unit will have to use. By taking this extra stress off your unit can also prolong the life of your ceiling fan. I know I hate having to go out and by air conditioners in the middle of the summer.

Ceiling fans are great when designing an elegant look for your rooms. They come in many different styles, shapes, color, and sizes. You can bring life to you room just with this simple fan. You have a choice between one with pull strings, you can get controls that mount on the wall, for us less active folks like me you can even get remote controls. They come with lights so that you can brighten up you favorite room. All in all in just one fan the design savvy can add a look to their rooms that will amaze forever.

Ceiling fans require a very small amount of maintenance. What you will need to do is get you a feather duster and take about five minutes a week to know the dust of the blades and motor. If dust builds on the blades it will lower the amount of air that the fan puts off. If to much dust get in the motor it will cause the motor to have to work harder and could cause damage. So just five minutes a week will add prolong the life of your fan.

Installing your Ceiling fan is not hard at all. Some even come with a cord that you can run down the wall. Most will install in a light fixture and in some case you may have to run wire. My suggestion to you is that if you do not have experience with electricity that you get someone who does. Even though ceiling fans install pretty easily you are still dealing with major volts of electricity. So if you are not sure go get some one to help that knows. Even if you have to pay someone you will come out better in the long run.

So that brings us to the end of our lesson on ceiling fans. So, what have we learned? My home can be beautified, I can save money, and I can stay warm and cool all year round. Sounds like you can not beat this situation with a stick. Once again I would like to say be careful with the installation. If you do not know ask someone and by all means enjoy your ceiling fans.
