How to Create Positive Energy to Relax

By Bill Lee

We are often told to relax, however no one necessarily tells us how. Living a stress-reduced life is essential in lessening the danger to your body and mind that is accumulated over time from the day-to-day obstacles in life. It is necessary to learn to relax, not only when you have health issues, but to prevent them also. Symptoms of stress to look for are:

High blood pressure, Rapid heart rate and breathing, Being tense and in chronic pain, Anger management problems, Concentration problems and Lack of confidence

The interest of maintaining good health and managing stress, you must learn to relax. Some Methods of conditioning your body to relax are:

Autogenic: This technique involves relaxing and using both awareness of the body and visual imagery in lessening stress. To perform this technique you would repeat certain words in your mind. You can envision a peaceful place as well, when doing so, inhale, exhale deeply, and aim your attention at relaxing your muscles.

Progressive Muscle: In this technique, focus on "slowly tensing and relaxing each muscle group." This so you learn the difference between the feeling of tense or relaxed muscles. You start in your toes and working your way upwards. Start by tensing your muscles for five seconds then relaxing for thirty seconds and repeat.

The method of visualization is done by imagining a visual journey to a tranquil place. This can involve all of your senses like smell, touch, taste, sight and sound.

Meditation: Play some soft music, and sit in a comfortable position, shut your eyes and handle your feelings. As well, if you prefer to just focus on not thinking at all, that is another way. You will discover that your breathing will slowly deepen and will become even, and while this is going on, your muscles will begin to loosen up.

Tai Chi: This is considered meditation in motion. It is a martial art that is considered a way to face your inner issues and hopefully achieve peace in the mind and soul. Tai Chi enables the dormant energy in your body to be released so that you are more regenerated and can proceed in dealing with life. As well, it helps bring forth hidden emotions that have not been dealt with. For instance, at times when we are emotionally upset, we often do thorough house cleaning to distract ourselves, and suddenly begin to cry.

That is because by knowing you are upset and doing some thing like the housework that suddenling you dealt with emotions. With Tai Chi you wil learn to tell the difference in the insubstantial and substantial in other words what is real and not real. When dealing with these types of conflicts it is important to remember the basic principle of Tai Chi. If you use just simple strength of will, it doesn't work in the long run since you don't have real understanding. Don't try to fight the contradictions or casually think about them. You need to find a way that works for you to neutralize them. In Tai Chi many masters of this type of martial art recommend that during practice to visually use various postures against an adversary. This is a good way to properly use your qi. In Tai Chi remember less is more. With Tai Chi it is better to think about the long term then the short since the long term goals will change over time. So the process is the important thing not the goal.
