mrkvamaster I think its impact is much more profound. The people empower the big companies because they want super cheap quality products and conveniences. Demand creates the supply. If WE would do the green things (like walking more), we would reduce the need for cars, downsize there market, reduce emissions, be healthier and have less idle time ('cuz we won't get to places as fast as we do, which is? bad...) Remember that we drive the market to do what it does!

if u never? acknowledge a problem, does it ever exist?
By: wakod2002. on 04 Dec 08, 08:25:57
Keep in mind that blaming the individual companies for 'not caring enough' leaves out many parts of the equation. For example, we can ask "Why? do big companies only care for 'BIG MONEY'?" One answer is that capitalism necessarily sets up a game that defines winning as "getting 'BIG MONEY.'" Therefore, capitalism would be to blame. But I think even blaming capitalism is myopic. As we can ask "Why does capitalism exist?" An answer: The people upholding the capitalist system.

It video aims at depoliticizing the issue of global warming by reducing everything to a matter of personal responsibility of ordinary people. You see, YOU are in fact NOT the problem. The ecology is NOT fucked up because YOU don't WALK enough. To the extent that global warming even is man-made (highly debatable), the problem is BIG MONEY, big companies who don't give a shit about nothing but profit. What this cute little video does? is try to steer your attention away from this. Fuck it

i don't understand? how people don't know how to learn. hundreds of people i've come across just CANNOT think and learn for themselves. they need someone to take a position of authority and tell them what to think. and it makes me very upset. thanks for encouraging other people to explore and learn and think. i truly appreciate it.

It's easier and quicker to do a search. I typed "global warming neptune" (without the quotes) in Yahoo! and the? fifth link down (from Daily Tech) refers to heating on Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, and Neptune. And that article has links, and you can explore til your heart's content. Happy surfing.

No, it? is the individuals that are responsible, because they still use the products of environmentally hostile industries. Why? Because those products are convenient. It takes little effort to simply drive to work or school, but planning, discipline and actual work is required if you wish to arrive at that destination by foot. We need to stop pushing the blame off on industry and start assuming responsibility at an individual level. There will be no change until this happens.

spool, agree.this is crap.the guy should have a? word with China-stop opening many factories every week.If we all started walking-it would make no differance!!-this is global, not local!.
By: SpoolDonkey. on 02 Dec 08, 01:38:43
yea, theres a lot the people can do. but there are so many other problems. like.. oil company's get a big fine for dumping waste, but by dumping they save more money than what the fine is, so they just keep dumping. there are 100's of little loopholes like that. my bit is i have solar? panels and a wind turbine, but if im honest i only got it because of all the power cuts we have here (spain/mallorca). well, it will be interesting to see what happens, whatever it is, it needs to happen soon.
